A Portuguese Studio Brings Scandi Cool to a Parisian Hotel
14th March 2025
Yes that does sound like a strange concoction, but the calming wood-drenched influence brings its time-honoured effect. On the tree-lined avenue that is Boulevard Marguerite de Rochechouart, Hotel Elysée Montmartre’s sits all serene with an updated interior brought into being by artictecturhe practice Policronia.

Their focus has been sustainable materials and a low carbon impact, successfully carried out here by using an invasive wood to France, eucalyptus. I love this wood, the colour is warm and slightly honeyed, and everywhere you look. The arches in the window particularly catch my eye.

The studio designed and crafted as much as possible from their workshop, keeping their footprint low. The furniture has such personality, like a gaggle of school kids all brimming with characteristics and expressions.

There are plenty of moments to enjoy as you wander around the hotel, it’s understated and warming but I wouldn’t say particularly Parisian. Though I am sure a welcome destination as you walk the 20 minutes from the Eurostar and place down your vegan-leather luggage, just so, breathing in the calm before hitting the Champs-Èlysées.
